25 Things to Declutter Today (That You Won’t Miss)
Because a calmer home starts with letting go of what’s quietly weighing you down.

Our Homes Hold So Many Things
We all have those things taking up space—not just in our homes, but in our minds.
The stuff we walk by every day and feel just a little heavier from.
The guilt-clutter. The “maybe someday” pile. The things we used to love but haven’t touched in years.
But what if clearing your space didn’t feel like a huge, exhausting task… and instead felt like a gentle exhale?
This list is a starting point. A gentle nudge toward a calmer, lighter space. These 25 things? You probably won’t even miss them once they’re gone. In fact, you might feel like you can breathe again. And THAT is worth it.
25 Things To Part With Right Now

1. Expired coupons, flyers, and takeout menus
Your kitchen drawer shouldn’t be holding onto stress from three months ago. Take photos of the menus you like and store in an album on your phone and recycle the rest!
2. Clothes you never wear (or don’t feel good in)
You deserve to open your closet and feel like yourself—not like who you should be. Let go of the “some day” guilt – it will truly set you free. My go to is to donate and let someone else love the items right now.
3. Random cords, chargers, and tech clutter
Untangling your life shouldn’t start with literal wires. Unless you 100% know what the cord belongs to – let it go. You likely will not find a use for it.
4. Old makeup and skincare you don’t use
Your bathroom should hold real, useful care—not guilt or “maybe someday.” The old skincare or hair care products that are never being used are taking up physical and mental space.
5. Socks with no match
You’re allowed to let go of things that are only half serving you. When I got rid of my lone socks, my drawer felt so much more organized and clean. Sometimes its the little things.
6. Pens that don’t work or notebooks you never write in
Your creativity deserves to flow without the weight of stale tools. This one is so hard for me. I love collecting notebooks and stationary – but I am also guilty of hanging on to them for so long that they collect dust and take up space. Make room for the ones that make you feel like you want to fill them up.
7. Decor you don’t love
Your home should reflect your energy—not just what filled a space. Even fully decorated, if your home doesn’t speak to your soul – your energy – then it doesn’t feel like a place you can fully settle in.
8. Mugs you never reach for
Morning rituals should feel personal, not crowded. Make space for JUST the mugs you love, and love them deeply.
9. Kids’ toys they’ve outgrown or never play with
More toys doesn’t equal more joy—and calm starts with less. Kids become overwhelmed with too many options and can not sit and play for long periods with too many options. Do both of you a favor and donate the toys you know are not being loved.
10. Tupperware with missing lids
Daily life is hard enough without digging through clutter to store leftovers, and honestly finding matches is sometimes my last straw. You’ll feel much more clear and organized with matching sets.
11. Old calendars or planners
You’re allowed to move forward without carrying the weight of every past plan. I take pictures of old calendars and store them digitally and part with the physical.
12. Unused beauty products or perfume samples
You are just not going to use them or need them. Let them go.
13. Extra buttons, instruction manuals, or product inserts
If you’ve lived without them this long, you probably don’t need them now – and you can find everything online! Let them go and be free.
14. Broken items you keep meaning to fix
The mental weight of “someday” is truly heavier than it seems. Unless you can donate it to someone who can fix it, it is time to let these items go.
15. Greeting cards from people you don’t speak to anymore
Memories can live in your heart, or in a digital file – just not in cluttered drawers. Do yourself a favor and take photos of them and part ways.
16. Kitchen gadgets you never use
Simplifying your kitchen really simplifies your mind. You really do not need so much. Just the basics.
17. Bedding or linens you don’t like
Your sleep deserves softness and intention. It’s okay to keep extras for spares, but you don’t need a hoard of them. Keep the ones you love and donate the rest.
18. Books you’ll never read again (or never started)
Your shelf should hold inspiration, not pressure. Pass the books on to someone who can enjoy them. If they are meant to find their way back to you, they absolutely will! Books tend to do that.
19. Shoes that hurt or don’t fit
You deserve comfort with every step—not compromise. Simple.
20. Old purses or bags with broken zippers or mystery crumbs
You’re not required to carry the weight of everything—literally or metaphorically. If you can’t fix it, it’s not worth hanging on to.
21. Outdated decor or seasonal items you never put out
Your space evolves with you—and that’s a good thing. Sometimes seasonal items just don’t speak to us anymore and thats okay. The memories we create always outweigh the items we display.
22. Gifts you feel guilty keeping
Love isn’t measured in objects—and release is a gift, too.
23. Craft supplies for a project you’ve let go of
It’s okay to change your mind and free your energy. If you truly want them back some day you can always circle back when that time comes – otherwise they may sit there forever taking up space from something you really enjoy and use.
24. Forgotten pantry items or expired spices
Nourishing your family doesn’t include keeping things long past their time. We all have these – time to part ways!
25. Old towels or washcloths that have lost softness
Even the smallest things touching your body should feel kind. If they’re rough and scratchy and you wouldn’t lend them to guest, its time to donate them!

It’s Okay to Let Go
Decluttering isn’t about becoming a minimalist. It’s about releasing what doesn’t serve you anymore, so your home feels peaceful and supportive—not like one more thing you have to manage.
I don’t normally like to preach consumerism, but if you truly need them back some day, we live in a world where obtaining items we want is much too easy. So part ways and see how good you feel. You might just surprise yourself.
